The Oak Ridge Library Media Center (LMC) is open from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm daily.Students visit the LMC with their classes.They may also come during the day from 10:40-11:40 to exchange books.
Students may check out two (2) items at one time.Exceptions are granted if a student needs to check out more items to complete a classroom assignment.
Books may be checked out for two weeks, or ten (10) school days.Weekends and holidays are not counted in these ten days.Magazines may be checked out for the same length of time.Magazines are given out in plastic bags and should be returned in the plastic bags.Reference books may not be checked out.Most items may be renewed once.
All library materials should be returned by 9:00 am on the morning of the day the class visits the LMC.However, if a student wishes to renew an item, s/he should bring that item at the regular class time.Any class that returns all items can earn a team ticket for their class.
The LMC does not charge overdue fines.Fines for damaged or lost materials will be assessed based on the replacement cost or repair cost of the book.A processing fee will apply.If a student has an overdue item, s/he will not be allowed to check out any new materials.If a student owes a fine, s/he will not be allowed to check out any new materials.Notes will be sent home for materials that are more than three weeks overdue and for items that are lost/damaged.It is the student’s responsibility to return items on time.
Students should ask the Media Specialist or Media Assistant if they cannot find the books or information they are seeking, or if they need help using the computers.
Students are expected to behave in a courteous and responsible manner in the LMC.They should follow PBIS expectations in the LMC just like they do in their own classrooms:be safe, be caring, be respectful, be here and ready.They should be proud of the Library Media Center and excited to visit each week.
